Beginning/ Intermediate (Ages 16 & up) Instructor: Scott Stockdale If you are attracted to clay but still don’t know if you would prefer hand building or wheel throwing, then this class is for you. We will explore the fundamental properties of clay and work on basic hand building and wheel throwing techniques. We will also discuss decorating and glazing techniques. This class is perfect for beginners, but students with some experience can improve their skills and benefit from individual attention. This class is an opportunity for students who have experience with ceramics to focus on furthering their skills. More advanced demonstrations will be given for experienced students that are tailored to the students needs. Students will work closely with the instructor developing their skills and finding their artistic voice. Tuesdays, 10:30pm - 12:30pm February 2nd - March 9th (6 weeks) Cost: $195.00 and includes two hours per week of open studio time outside of scheduled class Open studio hours: Sundays, 12pm - 4pm and Mondays, 6pm - 8pm Creative Teens Class Instructor: Scott Stockdale If you have a creative child, then this is their perfect opportunity to enhance that creative side. This class is for students between the ages of 12 - 15 who are interested in learning the many possibilities of clay. In this six week class, students will work on basic hand building and throwing projects. We will also discuss decorating and glazing techniques for their projects. Prepare to get muddy and have fun. Saturdays, 10:00am- 12:00am January 9th - February - 13th (six weeks) Cost for this class is $175.00 and includes all material and tools, just bring your imagination. Cost also includes two hours per week of open studio time outside of scheduled class. Raku Pottery Class Instructor: Scott Stockdale Raku pottery is a form of Japanese pottery created by both smoke and fire resulting in a unique crackle or metallic finish. Western-style raku involves the removal of the pottery from the kiln while it is glowing red hot and placed in a container with combustible materials - a dramatic and intense process. The resulting pieces will have a metallic color and be quite unlike standard pottery pieces. This class will work on both wheel and hand built ceramics. All ceramic artists are welcome, regardless of experience. Saturday, 6:00pm - 8:00pm January 9th - February - 13th (six weeks) Cost for the class is $225.00 and includes two hours of open studio time per week outside of scheduled class . * ALL CLAY CLASSES INCLUDE 25 LBS. OF CLAY, ALL STUDIO GLAZES AND FIRINGS. Abstract Landscape Painting Class Instructor: Scott Stockdale In this six week class student will use acrylic, collage and mixed media to achieve abstract Landscape compositions. Classes will be held outside in the natural environment. The class will stress design elements and principles, and basic color theory. The focus will be on helping each individual find his/her own unique form of personal expression and visual language. Each will gain inspiration, information and an exciting new direction. Be ready to try one thing after another as we layer, collage and use acrylic paints in a variety of ways. Students will use an array of mixed media techniques to achieve depth and texture in their work. All painters are welcome, regardless of experience. This class will be held from 6pm - 8pm on Thursday February 4th- March 11th (6 week) Cost of class is $185.00 Open Clay Studio This is for the experienced potter who has the passion to create but lacks the facilities needed. Sundays, 12pm - 4pm and Mondays, 6pm - 8pm This is an 8 week course of 4 hours per week (32 hours total). Studio times to be scheduled by the student based on the open studio times above. Glazes and Firing included in cost. Cost of class is $135.00 Class Policies - Tuition is due in full at time of registration - Tuition is refundable up until one week prior to the first class, minus the registration fee - No refunds will be given for missed classes - Classes with insufficient enrollment will be canceled and payment fully refunded - Tuition is transferable if it is two weeks prior to first class - Classes are limited to eight students. A first come first serve policy will be followed.
